It is the town's symbol and holds 4.7 on Google from more than 12,000 reviews, the most reviewed sight in town on Google.
About the place
The tower was built in the 14th century to guard the citadel's main gate and was the seat of the town council until 1556. After the fire of 1676 it received its present Baroque roof. The clock has limewood figures of the gods of the days of the week; a few reviews from 2026 say the figures no longer move.
Since the late 19th century the tower has housed the History Museum, with archaeology, furniture, guild objects, clocks and an old pharmacy spread over its floors. The climb ends in the wooden gallery under the roof, with a view over the whole town. Reviews from 2026 praise the exhibits and the view and say the labels are in several languages.
